Vitra Akari 20N lamp by Isamu Noguchi

Vitra Akari 20N lamp by Isamu Noguchi

Description

Inspired by a trip to a small Japanese village, where the American-Japanese artist and designer Isamu Noguchi had observed fishing men with lanterns in paper and bamboo. Noguchi created his characteristically and ambient paper lamps, which are all handmade and still produced on the same factory in Japan. The Akari Light Sculptures - akari meaning light in Japanese – are a harmonious blend of Japanese handcraft and modernist form. The 20N table lamp, is part of the collection of Akari Light Sculptures designed in the 1950's, but remain a classic today with its soft, diffuse light that beams through the shoji-paper.
